Part of substantial redevelopment of an existing complex of old buildings is a steel-glass cupola covering the courtyard. The structure has an askew rectangular plan with a span of about 15m. The mesh geometry has been optimized regarding equalized lengths of bars and minimum distortion of glass panes. The rectangular welded hollow sections are continuously tapered from 150mm at the perimeter to 50mm in the centre. With the exception of triangular edge panes the diagonal orientated mesh is covered with quadrangular insulated glass panes.
