A new office building consisting of 16.300m² GFA is to be located in Walldorf. Under a common roof, a working environment was created that has an open office landscape, logistics and workshop, conference and staff kitchen as well as recreation and fitness areas. The pivotal point of the building is formed by the light-optimized and connecting atrium, which makes it possible to provide naturally exposed workplaces over almost the entire width and depth of the building. The central design concept 'Under One Roof' manifests itself through the striking roof structure. The biaxial spanning coffered ceiling is executed in wood construction. As a support system, a reciprocal carrier lattice is selected, which makes it possible to avoid rigid connection. The 2-axis bearing effect is achieved by the alternating arrangement of the individual beams. According to the load graph, the support elements thinning further away from the support point whereby the force curve is reflected in the materiality of the wood elements.
The building envelope has also been designed by Knippers Helbig and consist of various timber an aluminum facade systems, skylights and metal claddings in the logistics area.
